A new season of live music events aimed at fresh talent are launched in Burnham-On-Sea this week.
Called Pier Pressure, the season will feature the best young bands from across Somerset and music nights will be held fortnightly at The Old Pier Tavern in Pier Street on alternate Fridays, starting on October 16th.
Organiser Ollie Hulme told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “There are dozens of great young acts in Somerset, hardly anywhere for them to play, and hardly anywhere for their fans to come and see them. So I thought it was time to do something about that.”
He added that the nights have been designed to cater to a young audience, but everyone is welcome.
Shows will start at around 7.30pm, and finish by 10pm. Anyone aged over 14 can attend and admission will be free. Strict licensing regulations will be in place and certified ID will be required to buy alcohol.
Ollie added: “The Pier is a great venue, with proper staging, lighting and sound equipment. If bands are taking their first steps, there’s not a better place to start.”
“The shows are simple and unambitious – we’ll have up to two acts a night, and hope that people will appreciate the level of talent that’s out there.”
Anyone interested in playing at a Pier Pressure night should email here or sign up at the Pier Pressure Facebook page.
