A display of colourful Easter art created by Burnham-On-Sea schoolchildren is underway this week at a town church.
The pupils from St Andrew’s School have decorated a dozen Easter crosses which are now on show at St Andrew’s Church.
Vicar Rev’d Cheryl Hawkins says: “St Andrew’s School recently came into St Andrew’s Church for their Easter Service. During collective worship during Lent there has been a focus on the various symbols associated with Lent and Easter with the cross being one and its importance in the Christian faith.”
“The children engaged with a beautiful story called The Three Trees which focuses on the Cross. So we were delighted when each of the 12 classes took up the challenge to decorate a cross.”
“We have been amazed at how different each cross is, how the themes of Lent and Easter have been incorporated and the detail of the work.”
“The crosses are now displayed across the Church balcony for all to see and are a wonderful creative way to help us engage in our worship during this Holy Week.”
“The crosses can be seen when the Church is open on Monday, Wednesday and Friday between 11am -1pm and also during our services during Holy Week and in the coming weeks.”
“We also have an Easter Fun morning of breakfast and Easter crafts on 17th April between 9.30am and 11.30am when the crosses will be fully on display.”
