A Burnham-On-Sea church was filled with colourful quilts and flowers for a unique festival over the weekend.

Burnham’s Our Lady and The English Martyrs Church in Highbridge Road held the Burnham-On-Sea Quilts and Flowers Festival between September 12th and 14th.

Burnham’s Mayor and Mayoress, Cllr Andy Brewer and Lorna Brewer, were among the visitors during the weekend, as pictured.

Quilters and flower arrangers from local churches and groups across Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge created the floral arrangements and showed off their creations.

A unique quilt, with squares made last term by Class 4 at St Joseph’s school, was also on show. It comes after the term topic of ‘bugs’ was an interesting inspiration for the design.

Pat Nicholls, co-organiser of the event, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “A special feature this year was an African Corner, with quilts and flowers inspired by the continent.”

“Several local businesses sponsored the Festival, which was free to visit, with a donations jar to help meet the costs.”
