A successful mini gig rowing regatta was held in Burnham-On-Sea on Sunday (November 14th) involving teams from along the Somerset coastline to serve as a trial for a full event in 2022.
Six teams were involved including Burnham, Bristol, Combwich, Clevedon, Porlock and Portishead.
“The day was a great success, helped by the November sun and calm conditions, and was enjoyed by all the crews who attended,” said a spokesman for the Burnham club.
“This was our first event to be held in Burnham, and a practice run for our next regatta planned for April 2022.”
There were six races durin the day, including Mens A+B, Ladies A+B, a mixed Vets (over 40s) and a mixed Supervets (over 50s).
Spectators along the seafront watched the gigs navigate around the buoys in the Parrett estuary.

Burnham & Highbridge Town Council said it was pleased to support the gig rowing group with a recent grant to purchase exercise equipment.
