A Burnham-On-Sea fire crew was called out to rescue a seagull trapped in netting in Burnham High Street on Thursday (April 30th).

One appliance was sent to the northern end of the High Street at 2.18pm where the gull was trapped on the roof above Thomas’s, as pictured here.

“Fire control received a call from the RSPCA requesting assistance to rescue a seagull that had become trapped in netting,” confirmed a spokesman.

“One appliance was sent from Burnham. Crews used a 135m ladder and working-at-height equipment to successfully release the seagull.”

The spokesman added: “It was then handed over to the RSPCA’s officer on scene who took it away for a precautionary check over. It appeared unharmed by its ordeal.”
