Thousands of people lined the streets of Burnham-On-Sea on Monday (November 4th) to watch dozens of illuminated floats and entertainers take part in the 73rd Highbridge and Burnham Carnival.

Over 70 entries paraded through the town in a dazzling cavalcade of colour and excitement, watched by big crowds along the route despite showers of rain.

The parade was led by Carnival Queen Jessica Smith and her two Carnival Princesses, Belle-Seren Tetsell and Chloe Herowych.

Some of the biggest cheers of the night from local spectators went to Burnham-On-Sea’s Hillview Carnival Club whose colourful Caribbean-themed float, called ‘Iko Iko’, was a hit.

Local bike group Burnham Bike Knights was near the front, followed by Burnham’s emergency services including the fire service, Coastguard, BARB and RNLI.

Burnham Carnival Chief Marshall Brad Loveridge told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It was a very smooth-running event and I’m pleased with how it went. Our thanks go to the 100 marshals who volunteered on the night.”
