Members of Burnham-On-Sea Brownies have made a special visit to the town’s fire station this week to find out about the team’s work.

The 4th Burnham-On-Sea Brownies learnt about what they should do if they come across a fire and how to stay safe.

“They also heard about what a firefighter wears to help protect them from fire,” Brownies leader Jane Mitchell told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“The girls all got to look through a special heat camera that helps firefighters detect fire.  They also saw the special breathing equipment that the firefighters use if they need to enter a burning building.

“They also had a tour of the station and asked lots of interesting questions. They were also  shown what kit the fire engines carry and how it is stored on the engine.”

“The highlight for most of the girls was getting the chance to sit in the fire engine.”

“The Brownies wish to thank the staff at the fire station for having them to visit and they really enjoyed it.”
