Hundreds of the region’s best BMX riders headed into Burnham-On-Sea over the weekend when the town’s BMX Club hosted the third round of the South West Regional race series.
The riders and their families supporters converged on the track next to Apex Park on Sunday (April 13th) for a day of competitive action.
Club spokesman Will Clarke told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We had a very busy day with 261 riders entered – 29 of whom were riders for Burnham BMX Club.”
“Our novice riders proved to be the stand-out stars with Noah Plastow winning the Novice 9-10 group and Malachi Brinklow winning the 11-12 on his regional debut.”
“Other first places were from Jensen Dyte winning the Mixed 6 and under, Owen Miller on the Cruiser 15-16, and Taylor Hunt in open 17-24.”
“Rounding up the podium spots for Burnham were Elliot Hatch who was second in Male 9, Dexter Moore second in Male 14 and Jasper Cook third in the Novice 6 and under.”
“With multiple other Burnham riders making it into the A finals the club continues to show that all the investment in facilities and coaching continues to pay off.”
He adds: “The summer racing continues at a rapid pace as we all head to round 4 of the regional series in Bideford in two weeks time, while some of our riders don’t get a break and are heading to Zolder in Belgium for a European round next weekend!”
The club holds open sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6.30pm to 8.30pm. New members welcome.
