Brent Knoll Primary School children have been very busy over the last week spreading festive cheer among friends, family and villagers.
The school’s choir has sung at two local residential homes, as well as to neighbours in the village, while the children from Year 6 also helped serve a Christmas lunch to the local ‘Meet and Eat’ social group.
The finale to the celebrations was a Christingle service in the village’s St. Michael’s Church, pictured above. Christingles are made using oranges and lit candles.
All the children in Key Stage 2 took part, sharing Bible readings, poems and songs, as well as parents and staff.
At the end of the service, the lights of the church were turned off leaving just the candles of the children’s Christingles shining as the congregation sang ‘This Little Light of Mine’.
Head teacher Chris Burman says: “This Christmas the children have really taken to heart our value of compassion and have shared their time and voices with many appreciative members of the community.”
