Plans for a controversial phone mast in Burnham-On-Sea to be moved onto the town’s seafront are to be debated by town planners this week.
Burnham-On-Sea.com revealed in April that O2 had submitted a pre-planning enquiry asking to move the mast on Marine Drive, pictured, to the Marine Rescue Centre on the seafront.
On Tuesday evening, the town council planning committee is set to discuss the proposal.
An enforcement order has already been issued against O2 asking that the structure be moved.
A pre-planning enquiry was discussed in April where no strong objections were heard from councillors.
The proposal has the backing of Burnham’s Coastguard and BARB, the two groups based at the Marine Rescue Centre.
The proposal comes after concerns last summer regarding poor quality phone signals hampering communications among rescue teams in the area.
