Queues of traffic developed outside Burnham-On-Sea petrol stations on Monday (June 16th) as panic buying of fuel continued.
New supplies reached several filling stations in the town on Monday, but the higher than normal demand – sparked buy a lorry strike – put a strain on supplies.
Fresh talks aimed at resolving the fuel tanker drivers’ dispute, which led to the four-day strike by hundreds of workers and prompted shortages across Britain, are to be held this week. The drivers walked out on Friday and are due to return on Tuesday, having mounted picket lines at about 14 terminals and fuel sites across the UK, including Avonmouth.
