Sedgemoor District Councillor Peter Downing has been elected the authority’s new Chairman.
Cllr Downing, pictured above right, lives in Shipham and is a ward councillor for Cheddar and Shipham.
He told Burnham-On-Sea.com that he is “delighted and honoured” to have been chosen for the top role.
Cllr Downing is pictured with outgoing chairman, Cllr Gill Slocombe and her husband Pete at the formal handover. Gill said she had “greatly enjoyed” her time in the role.
