Burnham-On-Sea cyclist sets off on Geneva to Nice fundraising ride

-

A Burnham-On-Sea cyclist is pedaling from Geneva to Nice this week to raise funds for charity.

Paul Dyer hopes to complete the 340 miles over four days – cycling for about 85 miles a day.

He’s taking part in the event among a group of 38 people from across the country who are all raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

“I have only been cycling for about 18 months but used to be a keen footballer and have found that cycling is great for fitness,” Paul told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“It also gives you a great sense of achievement – and that’s one of the reasons I’m doing this event.”

Paul is completing the cycle in memory of his friend’s mother who lost her battle with cancer last year. He hopes to raise up to £1,700.

The spectacular, yet demanding, cycling challenge sees the cyclists gathering besides the lake of Geneva in Switzerland before set off on a journey through the Alps to the south of France, rolling over mountain passes and quiet valley roads along the way.
