Vandals attack Burnham town centre shop for second time

-

A former cafe in the centre of Burnham-On-Sea has been attacked by vandals for the second time in a fortnight, prompting the owners to question whether their business is being targeted.

A glass door has been smashed at the cafe previously occupied by JJ Welshs, which is due to re-open in the New Year as the Newquay Pasty Shop Company.

We reported last month how one of the shop’s windows had been attacked. A glass door has also been smashed over the weekend.

John Marshall, a spokesman for the company, told Burnham-On-Sea.com the incidents were very regrettable.

He added: “On viewing the damage, it seems unlikely that these were accidental. It appears someone does not want our pasty shop to open. Burnham does not need this – there are a lot of empty shops in the town.”
