A support group formed to help people in the Burnham-On-Sea area suffering with Parkinson’s Disease will be holding a special meeting on Monday (October 13th).
Dr Beckie Port from Parkinson’s UK will talk about the latest research into the disease from 2pm-4pm in the Catholic Church Hall in Highbridge Road.
“Everyone who is interested in this subject will be welcome to come and join us especially those from the medical profession. There will be an opportunity ask questions and meet with Dr Beckie. A cup of tea and a biscuit will also be at hand,” said a spokesman.
The Burnham group launched last autumn and has been well supported by people from across the area.
It meets on the second Monday of every month from 2pm-4pm in the Catholic Church Hall when all are welcome to hear the talks and demonstrations.
There will also be the first of a series of new help sessions starting on Wednesday 5th November. The Exercise and Movement to Music classes will be held from 10am-11am at the Methodist Church Hall in College Street, Burnham. The one-hour class will take place weekly in six-week blocks, aimed at people with Parkinson’s and their partners and carers.
Then in February 2015 the group hopes to begin a special intensive Speech Therapy course called ‘Speak Up’ run by Deborah Woolven which will be held at the Church Hall of Our Lady and the English Martyrs. More information on this will be published on Burnham-On-Sea.com in the New Year.
