Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge town councillors have this week given their support to the creation of a new 15 car spaces in residential areas of Highbridge.
Town councillors considered two separate proposals at a meeting of the council’s planning applications committee on Monday evening (November 20th).
Ten extra spaces were approved for Queens Square, pictured above, and five further spaces were also given the go-ahead for Kiln Drive.
The Queens Square application will see additional parking created in the open area and Cllr Andy Brewer told the meeting: “These proposals will help to smarten up the square for residents while keeping it as a nice open-plan area.”
The separate Kiln Drive application from Homes in Sedgemoor will create five extra parking spaces and also enlarge the existing parking spaces.
Cllr John Parkes said: “I can’t imagine Sedgemoor would do this unless there was a strong rationale behind it. We know that parking is an issue for many residents in Highbridge.”
