Three extra car parking spaces could become made available in Burnham-On-Sea’s High Street during the daytime if proposals unveiled this week get the go-ahead.
Burnham’s Town Centre Manager Beverley Milner Simonds has asked Somerset County Council to consider removing restrictions on the parking area pictured here outside the former job centre at the northern end of the High Street.
“It strikes me as being silly that these spaces cannot be used in the daytime without the risk of a ticket from a warden. We want them turned back into parking bays and see no reason why restrictions are in place there,” she told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
Discussions are underway with Burnham’s county councillor Peter Burridge-Clayton and the council’s highways department. Burnham Chamber of Trade has also given its backing to the proposal.
