Burnham-On-Sea’s MP in town to celebrate Park Runs success

-

Burnham-On-Sea’s MP James Heappey was the special guest at Highbridge’s Apex Park at the weekend when the 12th anniversary of Park Runs being held across the UK was celebrated.

MPs around the country were invited to attend their nearest Park Runs on Saturday to mark the milestone.

Mr Heappey attended the Burnham and Highbridge event in Apex Park, where he started the 68th weekly run.

It was also a special occasion for runners Berni Mundy and Len Horlock, pictured right, both of whom reached their 50th Park Run.

The Burnham and Highbridge Park Run launched in June last year and the event is open to all runners each Saturday morning at 9am.

Park Runs are free to take part in, however runners need to sign up online here to get a unique barcode that enables them to log their finishing times each week.

Mr Heappey was Chairman of the community group ‘Highbridge Community First’ grants panel which assisted Burnham Harriers running club with some initial finane to help set up the Highbridge Park Run.
