Burnham-On-Sea’s popular Parkrun celebrated its second birthday on Saturday (June 17th).

Over 300 runners took part in the weekly run, which is held every Saturday at Apex Park.

Parkrun co-director Reg Huxtable thanked the runners and the team of marshalls and helpers who organise the popular events.

“These two years could not have been achieved without the support of the marshals and funders,” Reg told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“We owe our existance to the Town Council, Sedgemoor District Council and the First Highbridge group, who had the belief in us at the beginning.”

“The runs continue to grow and we recently had 370 runners taking part on one Saturday morning.”

The Parkruns began in Highbridge in 2015. All are welcome to the runs, which are held every Saturday at 9am. Sign up online at the Parkrun website.

Awards were given to some of the biggest supporters, as pictured below. They include Sue Nichols for volunteering, Tony Dickinson for completing 51 of the 52 runs, Dan Anderson for his photos, Max Boyes for volunteering, Pete Manning for the best marshall, Tracey Benton for filling all volunteer roles, Zackery Yeung for most junior runs, and Reg Huxtable for his directing.
