Two Burnham-On-Sea residents whose families have been affected by Cancer are preparing to do a 10,000ft parachute jump to raise funds for a charity that helps people hit by the disease.
Danny Sutton (pictured right) and Andy Low (below), who both work at Tesco in Burnham, are raising money for Marie Curie Cancer Care by performing the skydive at the Duke of Gloucester Barracks in Gloucester on March 21st.
“I lost my granddad to Cancer in 2007, and Andy lost his mother to Cancer just twelve weeks after she was diagnosed. Towards the end of 2008, my mother was also diagnosed with skin cancer,” Danny told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
“We had heard that one in three people are affected by Cancer, but we never thought we would be among them.”
“It almost seems common place today, so we have decided to do the fundraising skydive to support the work of Marie Curie Cancer Care.”
“It will be a 10,000ft freefall parachute jump, which is about two miles above the earth. We will freefall down to 5,000ft, falling at 120mph.”
Danny, who is a student at Bridgwater College, added: “We are required to raise a minimum of £800 between us to cover the jump and donations.”
“The jump costs £185 each and anything above this that we raise will be a straight donation to Marie Curie.”
