A Burnham-On-Sea charity shop has issued an unusual appeal for the return of a stolen toy owl.
Staff at the National Animal Welfare Trust shop in Regent Street were shocked last week when their 14-inch tall toy owl, which welcomes customers, was taken.
Manager Sonja Moore said: “He wasn’t just a normal toy – he was a very realistic barn owl whose head moved and hooted when people walked into the shop. I have owned him for many years and he was not on sale.”
“He was stolen last Wednesday between 2-4pm. It’s sad that someone has taken him because our customers, especially children, loved him being in the shop above the till. We are hoping that the person who took him will have a conscience and return him, anonymously if needed.”
Fellow shop manager Ellie Tee, pictured, added that the shop’s staff all want to see the owl – called Ozzie – returned.
