Casper, an abandoned baby barn owl, will soon have some young companions at Secret World Wildlife Rescue Centre near Burnham-On-Sea thanks to his two minutes of stardom on national television.
He made his appearance on the BBC’s latest Autumnwatch programme with
Secret World Wildlife Rescue founder Pauline Kidner.
Pauline explained how Casper would spend the winter at the charity’s base, and explained that his chances of later surviving in the wild would be far better if he could be reared and then released with other youngsters.
Now her nationwide appeal has been answered because two other abandoned baby barn owls will soon be on their way from Swindon and Oxford.
Pauline told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Four week-old Casper was found in Langport and it is possible he was abandoned by his mum because of a shortage of food and her need for self preservation with winter coming on. We’re delighted that the appeal has resulted in finding two baby barn owls.”
