Over 800 knitted doves appear around Highbridge in festive yarn bombing

-

Hundreds of knitted doves have been left around Highbridge this weekend in a festive ‘yarn bombing’ that aims to spread positivity.

The colouful doves have been knitted by local residents, co-ordinated by Highbridge’s St. John’s Church.

They were distributed across the town during the early hours of Saturday morning for residents to find and take home for their Christmas trees.

One of the team at St. John’s Church told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Knitters from the church and the community have been really busy again this year and we had an amazing 800 Christmas doves to distribute around the streets of Highbridge.”

“They have been lovingly knitted by our band of faithful, loyal knitters.

It is the seventh year that the festive yarn bombing has taken place – in previous years, the team have knitted bells, angels, candles, choir singers, stars and Mary’s.

They each include a small festive message from the church and residents.  “The doves are free for people to find and take home to put on their christmas tree.”

“If anyone would like to make a donation, no matter how small, towards the ministry of St John’s in Highbridge it would be greatly appreciated. There is a QR code on the label which will take you to a giving page.”
