Scores of people headed to Highbridge’s Morland Community Hub on Saturday (September 28th) when it held its first family fun day to showcase its facilities.
A wide range of activities were held through the day, including Bollywood dancing, circus performers, a pop-up cafe, children’s games, stalls and music.
Visitors were also able to add drawings to a new mural art board which is taking shape and will soon be installed around the hub’s fencing to provide a dash of colour.
The event also included displays by St John Ambulance and the Police who showed their support for the facilities.
Burnham and Highbridge’s Mayor and Mayoress, Andy and Lorna Brewer, opened the event alongside the town crier Alastair Murray.
The Mayor told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It’s great to see the new hub taking shape at the centre of Highbridge’s local community.”
“My congratulations go to Jane Macpherson plus Roger and Janet Keen and the team for all their continuing work in building it up.”
Jane thanked all those who had attended the “very successful day” and said it had given visitors a chance to see inside the building and hear about the plans for the future. She added that a Christmas open day is being planned for later in the year.
