Conservative election leaflet distributed locally mistakes Wells for Wales

-

A printing error has seen hundreds of election leaflets sent out by the Conservative Party in the Wells constituency – which includes Burnham-On-Sea – containing details about its manifesto for Wales.

James Heappey, the Conservative candidate, admitted it was “embarrassing” and said it has happened in other places as well.

He said on social media: “It’s one of ours. Produced by party centrally – clearly wrong content on centre pages. Same thing happened in other constituencies too.”

The mistake has been criticised by local residents on social media with one voter, Matt Norman, saying: “This seems like one hell of a mess up for a Conservative held constituency. Voters in the Wells constituency ‘will decide this election’ whilst we sell you on Welsh policies as we think Wells is in Wales.”

Other constituencies, including Yeovil and West Bromwich, have also received misprinted leaflets.
