Over 33kg of pasta and rice, tinned fruit and vegetables, plus toiletries and other basic necessities were kindly donated to the appeal.
When the impressive haul was delivered to the Burnham and Highbridge Foodbank for distribution to local families and residents in need, the team were given a tour of the operation.
They heard about the work to sort perishable and non–perishable items in date order to ensure that every box is balanced with a good choice of foods – and they also learnt more about the people that the donations help.
This week alone, the Foodbank have issued 25 boxes to grateful residents of Highbridge and Burnham in short–term need.
The Foodbank is solely run by volunteer support and relies on the generosity of local businesses and collections.
