Building work has started on a new development of 17 Burnham-On-Sea homes which is set to be completed in June 2018.
Yarlington Homes, the commercial arm of Yarlington Housing Group, is building the properties on land at the rear of Burnham-On-Sea’s Tesco supermarket.
The new development, called Novello, will provide 17 detached three and four bedroom properties; and six of the homes will be low cost for local families.
Yarlington Housing Group has joined EG Carter in formally marked the start of building work this week with other dignitaries from Sedgemoor District Council and Quattro.
Outright sale properties are a new venture for Yarlington and come as part of its Next-Gen corporate strategy, which commits to building 1,500 new homes to help tackle the region’s housing crisis.
On the build, Yarlington’s Executive Director of Growth and Development, Stephen Lodge, said: “There is a real need for homes across all tenures and Next-Gen looks to meet those needs by expanding the types of properties we offer and the geography we operate in.”
“We are really excited to be building Novello, our first outright sales homes, and we look forward to handing the keys to our purchasers next year.”
“The Novello development will also help provide Yarlington with additional funding to build the much-needed new affordable homes needed across the south west.”
This development is the first site Yarlington has appointed EG Carter as the main contractor who will also be enlisting the help of local labour. The development is scheduled for completion in June 2018.
Yarlington Housing Group is one of the biggest housing providers in the south west with over 10,000 properties across Somerset, Devon and Dorset.
