New Year’s Day seafront walk set to be held in Burnham-On-Sea by local club

-

A special community walk is set to be held on Burnham-On-Sea seafront on Monday January 1st to mark the start of the New Year.

Yellow Brick Road Running and Walking Club is organising the 3-mile walk, meeting at 10am outside Bay View cafe on the sea front.

Yellow Brick Road is a local walking and running club organised by a group of people who have, in one or another, been affected by mental health.

A spokesperson says: “Our aim is to encourage and support people who are struggling with their mental health to get outside for a walk, jog or run.”

“No pressure to talk about anything that’s bothering you but you can of course if you feel comfortable. If you just want to get out and meet new people then that’s great and you will be made to feel welcome.”

A map of the route is shown above.

The organiser adds: “The route is suitable for wheelchairs or pushchairs, with four small slopes and one section of stone/gravel track.”

“If you’re bringing your dog, please remember that dogs can make some people anxious, so on this walk, they must remain on a short lead at all times to allow people the space they may need.”
