New public electric vehicle charging points to be installed in Burnham car park

-

New public electronic vehicle charging points are set to be installed in a Burnham-On-Sea car park later this year as part of a growing local roll-out.

The plans for Burnham’s Oxford Street car park were initially announced in a report to councillors in 2023.

A Somerset Council spokesperson has confirmed to Burnham-On-Sea.com this week that the project is proceeding: “We are currently finalising the lease agreement and are hoping the electronic vehicle (EV) Chargers will be installed later this year.”

“The Oxford Street car park will be the first council car park to get them in Burnham, with others to follow. These will be rapid charging points.”

Currently, there are local public EV charging points outside the Burnham-On-Sea Tesco store and at the M5 Sedgemoor Services.

There are also charging points at Brent Knoll’s Sanders Garden Centre and in the parking area next to the Highbridge Costa Coffee drive-thru.
