A popular tools shop in the centre of Burnham-On-Sea has this week been re-launched as an expanded hardware and tools store.
IM Tools in Burnham’s Regent Street has become ‘Burnham Tool and Hardware’ after taking on some of the stock from the former Home Hardware store which closed at the end of August.
Instead of a traditional ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the opening, Burnham’s Mayor Cllr Andy Brewer used bolt cutters to cut a metal chain across the shop’s doorway in keeping with the products that the store stocks!
Talking to Burnham-On-Sea.com, the Mayor said: “I’m pleased to support this enterprising local business. It’s encouraging to see such co-operation between businesses and it’s great that Burnham will continue to have a hardware shop.”
Owner Martin Hallier added: “I’m super positive about this town centre — I love Burnham and want to do all I can to support it.”
“It’s been so sad to see Home Hardware closing and I feel it is for me to help its customers in finding the products they need.”
“The closure of that shop was a big loss to our town which I could not bear so I thought I’d take up the challenge of incorporating the two business’s ethos.”
“I have taken on some of Home Hardware’s stock and am actively looking for a bigger premises here in Burnham.”
Burnham Chamber Of Trade also welcomed the re-branding of the store this week, with a spokesman saying: “Our congratulations go to Martin on the opening of this new-look store, which is one of the many great independent shops in Burnham town centre.”
