A new community group has been launched in Highbridge with the aim of giving the town a boost by encouraging enterprise and promoting it in a positive light.
The new group, which is called ‘Our Highbridge’, has been started by local residents Jacqui Strong, Kyla James, Ruth Coull and Nadja McDevitt, pictured.
Jacqui says: “The group has been formed with the intention of making Highbridge a better place for residents, visitors and businesses.”
“We want to lift Highbridge and create a lasting impression on the town and help to bring the community together through fundraising, projects and action.”
The group held its first fundraising event at the weekend with a Halloween family event in the Community Hall, as we reported here, and further events are being planned.
Nadja adds: “We have ambitions for various events and activities in the town, working with businesses and the community, to positively promote the town.”
“We want to create something that’s sustainable to keep the town lovely while encouraging visitors here and giving the town more of a voice.”
They are also looking for more volunteers to help them – residents who’d like to help can get in touch by email at ourhighbridge@gmail.com.
