District and town councillor Neville Jones and his wife Margot celebrated their 60th anniversary with a dinner at Laburnham House Hotel in West Huntspill on Saturday night (October 24th).
On the guest list were many local business leaders and politicians, including Burnham’s MP, David Heathcoat-Amory, and Kerry Rickards, the Chief Executive of Sedgemoor District Council.
Mike Murphy, the chairman of Highbridge’s Chamber of Trade, gave a speech charting the couple’s colourful history and called them “cornerstones of our community.”
Representatives from the many organisations which Neville is a part of – which include BARB, Burnham’s Medical Equipment Fund and Highbridge Community Association – were present.
The couple also received a signed card from the Queen marking their special milestone. MP David Heathcoat-Amory said: “Neville and Margot are a very special couple wo have played a key role in developing Burnham over many decades.”
