An auction of well-known people from across the Burnham-On-Sea area has raised more than £880 for a tennis academy set up in memory of young tennis player Nathan Edwards who died last year.
Dozens of people flocked to Highbridge’s Oaktree Arena on Friday evening (February 1st) to support a skittles night and auction of promises in aid of The Nathan Edwards Tennis Academy.
Organisers said they were delighted with the support given to the fundraiser.
“It was a fun evening and we were very pleased to raise £450 from the auction and a further £437 from the skittles,” said Tom Ashton, one of the event’s organisers.
Among the ‘items’ being auctioned were local golf experts, a photographer, IT experts, tennis tutors, a magician, and meals from local restaurants.
Over £3,500 has now been raised for the Academy, which was set up following the tragic death of 17-year-old Nathan in a road accident last November. He was a talented member of Burnham’s Avenue Tennis Club and a former King Alfred School pupil.
