Burnham-On-Sea’s Music With Mummy group celebrates anniversary

-

The founder of Burnham-On-Sea’s Music With Mummy group has celebrated 20 years of classes being run across the UK by holding a charity fundraising event in the town.

Sarah Cole, who runs music classes for babies, toddlers and pre-school children for Music with Mummy, has raised £140 for a good cause.

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the nationwide group, she ran charity events at the Avenue Tennis Club in Burnham and the YMCA in Bridgwater.

“We had 35 children attend with their parents and raised a total of £140 in aid of the Great Ormond Street Hospital. With this money they will be purchasing play equipment for the hospital,” Sarah told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“I would like to thank the Avenue Tennis Club and Bridgwater YMCA for allowing me to run the sessions free of charge at their venue. I would also like to thank all the parents and children for supporting me and this wonderful charity.”

Her Jolly Babies classes are for children from birth to 1 year, and aim to stimulate the baby’s senses by singing nursery rhymes using music, games, props and small percussion instruments to encourage early development.

Music with Mummy is a musical education programme for toddlers aged 1-3 years with the classes being educational and lively. Props, musical movement and singing are used, as well as percussion instruments.

Three Four time classes are for children aged from 3-4 years with the classes being story based, encouraging the children to act out parts of the story.

All classes are held weekly in Burnham at the Avenue Tennis Club by Sarah, who has been running classes in the area for over eight years.
