Over £1,000 was raised for a Highbridge church when it held a live music marathon on Saturday (June 16th).
St John’s Church organised the day-long event through the day with a steady stream of members of the public dropping in.
Rev Sharon Crossman from St John’s Church told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Over 100 local singers and musicians took part, from choirs and bands to organists and soloists.”
She added: “Our huge thanks to everyone who performed – you were amazing, to all who kept us well fed and watered – you were incredible, and to all who donated because we raised £1,050. Enormous thanks!”
“The event ran for 18-hour and 57-minutes, starting at 04:03am and finishing at 11pm. It was that long because St John’s was consecrated in the year of 1857 to tie in nicely with our fundraising.”
Performers included the Coastline Singers, Rock Choir, Drop The Mic, King Alfred Band and the Ukulele Group.
