Burnham-On-Sea’s Mayor, Mayoress and Town Crier have visited town group Music for the Memory, a Dementia musical activity group, this week as they celebrated their Christmas party.
The children from St. Andrew’s School Choir were also among the guests who came along to entertain the Burnham-On-Sea group’s members.
The volunteers performed Gaudete and a rendition of Handel’s Hallelujah chorus, before enjoying festive refreshments.
The volunteers were thanked by the Mayor for all the hard work they do to keep this active group going. He said he hopes to visit the group again during 2019.
There was one poignant moment when a member stood up and personally thanked the volunteers for running the group which she enjoys visiting once a fortnight.
“We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who have continued to support our independent, volunteer run group,” said the group’s Julie Skinner.
“We wish everyone a Happy and healthy New Year and we start back on Tuesday 15th January 2019.”
