Family picnic near Burnham raises £650 for two good causes

-

Over £650 was raised for good causes when a fundraising picnic was held near Burnham-On-Sea earlier this week.

Leanne Marie Watts organised a Picnic Fun Day on Monday 31st July at Norville on The Causeway in Mark in aid of The Rowan Baby Bereavement Suite at Musgrove and Mark Pre-school.

Leanne told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “My husband and I lost a baby last August and so The Rowan Baby Bereavement Suite at Musgrove was very special to us and we wanted to say thank you and help others who go through such a difficult experience.”

“I decided whilst out in the garden with the chickens and ducks one day that it would be an amazing thing to have a Picnic Fun Day in my garden where families could come for a nice day out in the summer holidays.”

“We raised £655. Activities included water play, soft play, homemade games, sensory time UK, planting, digging, a fire engine, tractor, face painting, balloon modeller, the bubble man, ice cream van, bouncy castles, obstacle course and raffle.”

“The children could play together whilst we hopefully we make some money for charity. Local businesses and individual families were so so generous with raffle donations and we are so grateful.”

“We had 200 children and their parents/carers attend so it was an amazing turn out! Huge thanks also go to Charlie Rayner who helped to organise the day!”
