A community mural painted on the walls of Burnham-On-Sea Sailing Club has been given a fresh lick of paint this week.
The huge painting of various scenes around Burnham has started to fade, so members of Highbridge and Burnham Artists (HABA) grabbed their brushes and spent several hours adding a splash of colour.
HABA’s Sue Hammond Lovatt told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The walls were last painted three years ago, so the paint had started to flake off and peel away.”
“People really seem to like the fact that these murals have transformed what was a boring grey wall into something very colourful and attractive.”
The Theatre Mélange production company – which is currently filming “Echo Burnham, Portrait of a Coastal Town” – also filmed the painting work as part of its production. Artistic Director Sandy Maberley is leading the production crew, who have been interviewing local people about their memories, experiences and opinions of Burnham, as recently reported here.
