Burnham man threatened with baseball bat during late night mugging

-

A Burnham-On-Sea man was robbed of his iPod and a mobile phone during a late night mugging in the town on Monday evening (October 19th).

The man, aged in his mid-20s, was walking home along Berrow Road at 11.30pm when three hooded youngsters approached him near the junction with Stoddens Road (pictured) and threatened him with a baseball bat.

“After handing over his valuables, he was pushed into a hedge and the three ran away towards Burnham,” a relative of the man told Burnham-On-Sea.com. “He’s understandably very shaken up by the whole incident.”

The victim walked towards Berrow where he raised the alarm at a call box. Police arrived shortly after midnight on Tuesday morning.

The incident follows one involving an 18-year-old woman who was robbed of her iPod and digital camera while she walked along Rectory Road at about 10.50pm on Sunday, August 23rd.

Previously, a 16-year-old boy was punched to the ground and robbed of his iPod by two men in black hoodies on Berrow Road at about 11pm on Monday, July 27th.
