Residents in Burnham-On-Sea have been warned to be extra vigilant after an elderly woman had jewellery stolen from her on Saturday evening (October 6th).
The 80 year-old was approached at 4pm by two women in St Andrew’s Road and a necklace was stolen.
One of the women, who had a foreign accent, asked her for directions to the hospital and went to ‘hug’ her as a sign of gratitude, but her necklace was stolen and replaced with a cheap fake.
Her family says she was unhurt but shaken by the incident and have urged other residents to be aware of the scam.
