Hundreds of Burnham-On-Sea residents queued up to buy amazing ice cream creations from The ‘King of Desserts’ when he made an unscheduled appearance in the town on Monday evening (August 13th).
While most ice cream vans flog 99s and market themselves solely through the tune on their music speakers, Mr Tee’s King of Desserts van tours around Britain and uses social media to promote the stop-offs on the day of the visit.
Hundreds of people headed to the Oxford Street car park on Monday evening where long queues of people quickly built up, as pictured here.
His unique desserts range from Reece’s Pieces peanut butter waffles and Oreo biscuit blue trays to Bubblegum bottle waffles, Creamy Fudgie Brownie Smiley Trays, Kinder Bueno Fudge Cakes, Galaxy Caramel Hot Cookiedoughs and Oreo Dreamy Creamz.
Mr Tee explained how it all started: “It was around Easter two years ago that I just had a brainwave with Easter eggs. I filled half of it with ice cream added some snazz to it – like sprinkles, sherbet, and what have you – and sold them for £3.50 each. Then on social media, it went mental. I thought, I’m onto something here.”
Among those in the queue in Burnham was Sam Nicol, who described the desserts as “very scrummy!” but conceded that some had gone “in our freezer for another day – we are such lightweights!”
Another customer, Jim Granger, said: “This ice cream was simply out of this world – the best we’d ever tasted with stunning toppings and all at a sensible price under £5.”
Jason Belcher, who was also in the queue, said he’d heard the dessert van would be visiting Weston over the next week, where similar long queues are likely.
