Hundreds of pounds of manure have allegedly been claimed as expenses by Burnham-On-Sea’s MP, David Heathcoat-Amory, according to a report in a national newspaper on Tuesday (May 12th).
The Daily Telegraph reported that Mr Heathcoat-Amory has made 19 claims over a three-year period for hundreds of sacks of horse manure which have been paid for by taxpayers’ money.
It is claimed that he filed expense receipts worth £388.80 for fertiliser between 2004-07. He also allegedly claimed £6 for the use of a chainsaw, £2 for mouse poison, £1.95 for sunflower seeds, £15 for moving rubbish and £5 for a wheelbarrow puncture.
According to the Telegraph, between July and September 2007, he also filed £1,792.50 worth of invoices from a gardening firm and spent £605.25 during a single month, October 2005, on his garden.
Furthermore, Mr Heathcoat-Amory reportedly submitted a £986.17 bill for heating oil in January 2008. Weed treatments, moss killer and herbicide at his home reportedly cost the taxpayer more than £50 in 2006, and there was also a £30 claim for hedge trimming in 2007.
