Motorcyclist air-lifted to hospital after M5 crash near Burnham

-

A motorcyclist was airlifted to hospital following an accident on the M5 motorway near Burnham-On-Sea on Friday afternoon (April 30th).

Police, fire and ambulance crews from Burnham were sent to the northbound carriageway after the rider lost control of his Suzuki motorbike.

Police spokeswoman Sian Davies told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “A man in his 40s suffered what are thought to be serious injuries and he was airlifted from the scene using an air ambulance. No other vehicles were involved.”

The incident led to long queues of Bank Holiday weekend traffic building up on the M5 in both directions.

Earlier in the day, at 6.40am, a car overturned on the A38 at Brent Knoll, partially blocking the southbound side of the busy route near the junction of Harp Road and Brent Street in Brent Knoll. Police are appealing for witnesses.
