Families from Burnham-On-Sea have been invited to a garden centre during March to have a go at making mums a special present for Mothering Sunday.
Monkton Elm Garden & Pet Centre is hosting several planting workshops for youngsters to plant up baskets of winter pansies and violas on March 24 and 25 from 9.30am until 1pm and from 2pm until 4.30pm and on March 26 from 10.30am until 1pm and from 2pm until 3pm.
Andrew Pitman, Store Manager at the independent garden centre at Monkton Heathfield near Bridgwater, said: “It’s always nice for mums to receive a special gift from their sons or daughters on Mother’s Day so we thought we would offer children the opportunity to plant up baskets of pansies or violas for their mums.”
“The workshops will take place in our seasonal plant hall and all of the materials will be provided, including an array of locally-grown pansies and violas that children can choose from.”
People are welcome to drop in to either workshop on the days, no booking is necessary. The workshops will cost £2.99 per child and all children will need to be accompanied by an adult.
Andrew added: “As well as making a lovely gift, the workshops are a great way to get children interested in gardening and learning how to plant something up.”
