Council bosses said this week that they remain confident that the soon-to-close site of Burnham-On-Sea’s Morrisons supermarket ‘will not be vacant for too long’.
Burnham’s store in Pier Street closes on Sunday November 29th when dozens of jobs will be lost as part of the closure of 11 Morrisons stores across the UK.
Sedgemoor District Council spokeswoman Sam Taylor told Burnham-On-Sea.com this week: “Sedgemoor District Council remains disappointed that Morrison’s in Burnham-On-Sea was selected for closure.”
“The Council’s Economic Development Team have been working with Burnham and Highbridge Town Council and the site’s owner to understand the current situation and to ascertain future plans.”
“We are confident that the site, in its prime location, will not be vacant for too long. We look forward to hearing positive news soon.”
