Photos: Classic pre-war Morris vehicles head to Brean beach

A group of vintage car enthusiasts took their precious vehicles for a day out on Brean beach this week… and carefully checked the tide times first after the loss of a vehicle to the sea at the weekend.

Brean beach was the destination for the collection of pre-war Morrises, on one of their seasonal runs that aim to bring the restored and refurbished cars into the public eye.

Visitors enjoyed the spectacle and bystanders came for a closer look and to take souvenir photos.

The event, organised by The Morris Register, began at the club’s base in Shepton Mallet, passed through the City of Wells, before making its way up Cheddar Gorge, and finally across to the coast.

“Being able to take our cars onto the beach was such a delight,” said club chairman Paul Wheatcroft.

“Everyone who saw them was so appreciative and had lots of questions. An old car is a great ice breaker!”

“The cars are magnificent, of course” he added “but it’s the people that make these trips work.”

The Register was formed to promote interest and enthusiasm in all Morris vehicles designed before 1940 and to put members in touch with each other, to pool experience. Anyone who owns a pre-1940’s Morris and wants to learn more about the group or is interested in joining a future run, should contact the South West secretary on jeremy.matthews@live.co.uk
