Police arrested two people after a man was air-lifted to hospital on Sunday night following a serious assault in Highbridge.
A man was allegedly struck with a golf club by an attacker in Morland Road at around 6.30pm.
Police and ambulance crews were called to the scene, pictured here, and the injured man was rushed to a nearby air ambulance.
Police spokesman Wayne Baker told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We were called to reports of a disturbance in Morland Road, Highbridge last night at about 6.30pm.”
“One man received a serious head injury and was taken to hospital by air ambulance. Two men have been arrested in connection with the incident.”
A yellow Dorset and Somerset air ambulance landed in the car park of nearby King Alfred School, as pictured below, and took off at 8.15pm with the patient onboard.
Residents told Burnham-On-Sea.com that the man was lying in the road near the junction with North Avenue, which was sealed off by Police for several hours as the investigation got underway.
A Morland Road resident, who asked to remain anonymous, told Burnham-On-Sea.com that everyone was in “complete shock” by the nature of the incident. Anyone with information should contact Burnham Police on 101.
