Youth team’s art project gives Highbridge’s Morland Hall a colourful lift

-

Members of The Prince’s Trust Team, run by Bridgwater and Taunton College, have completed a community project at Morland Hall in Highbridge.

The team encouraged local companies to supply 24 tins of paint, plus paint trays and brushes to decorate four bathrooms and the main hall.

In the learning disabilities room they designed and painted lots of underwater-themed creatures, plus Winnie the Pooh and a woodland and animal-themed mural.

Homes in Sedgemoor donated £500 to the project and also supplied transport for the duration of the scheme. The team also held a car wash at the Bridgwater & Taunton College’s Cannington Centre, raising £42.

“This project was part of The Prince’s Trust team programme, a 12 week self-development designed to help young people not in education or training to increase their confidence, motivation, employability and team work skills, whilst they also work towards a level one qualification,” said a spokesman.

“The programme involves a residential trip, a community project, work experience, a team challenge and a final presentation.”

“Morland Hall was chosen after comparing potential projects in and around Bridgwater. The team felt Morland Hall and the vast amount of groups in the community that use it would benefit from their hard work more than other sites visited.”

“Thank you goes to them all – Natasha Dyer, Morgan Cox, Ashleigh Heslop, Chloe Turner, Freddie Thomas, Tazmin West, Sarah Warr and Jasmine Sanders.”
