Crowds of local people flocked to Morland Community Hall in Highbridge on Saturday (September 22nd) when it threw open its doors for a special open day.
Visitors were able to see for themselves what facilities the hall offers and also give their opinions about the type of events that should be held there.
Supporters were also able to discuss the hall’s future with local councillors and enjoy refreshments.
There was plenty of fun too – with competitions, raffles and games laid on. Local police were also on hand to security mark bikes.
Richard Matthews, Chairman of the Sedgemoor Association of Handicapped Persons, which helps to run the hall, told Burnham-On-Sea.com the day had been a success.
“It’s been a good event to help raise the profile of the hall. We’ve suffered from a fire, vandalism and a number of groups have moved away over the years, but this event shows the hall is alive and well!”
“We’re looking to further regenerate the facility in the future and would like to hear from local groups who can help us.”
Community Development Worker Sue Quatermass told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Visitors were able to see what’s already here and give us their own ideas about what they’d like to see happening at the hall and youth club.”
