Five Burnham-On-Sea charity fundraisers have completed a Moonwalk half marathon around London at night, raising £1,400 for a local charity.
Becky Stockwell, Tori Pope, Vicky Derman, Holly Macbeth and Lisa Watts completed the 15-mile walk in their bras to draw attention for Somerset Breast Cancer Now.
“This was a new challenge for some of the group and they were so excited to take part!” said Holly.
“We endured the cold to walk in our bras round the streets of London covering 15 miles during the night with over 20,000 women and men uniting together against breast cancer.”
“We finished at 4.10am and completed the walk in 4hrs 30mins. We were so pleased to see those medals at the end!”
“We had put in several weeks of training inside and outside at Brean Splash gym who supported us by giving us free membership to help with our training and much needed guidance.”
“We were are also thankful to Warren Farm who sponsored our travel expenses and to Somerlap who donated our hoodies to wear during our training and to keep warm on the night.”
“We also would like to thank Nicola at Material Needs who kindly decorated our bras in the Wild Wild West theme that was chosen by the charity for the night.”
“We are so grateful for all who supported us and gave sponsorship helping us raise over £1,400.”
“It was an amazing and emotional night as we remembered those who have lost their fight or are dealing with breast cancer now in their every day lives. The money raised is so vital into helping us fund the research into the cure for breast cancer.”
The somerset group’s next event will be on Friday 22nd June with ‘Chrissy P’s wicked women pamper evening’ at the Oak Tree Arena in Highbridge. Tickets are priced at £5, including entry into a free prize draw and a glass of bubbly on arrival. The first 50 tickets sold will also receive a free gift.
